Purpose-built for steam turbines, Woodward’s powerful controllers have the performance and accuracy required for today’s steam turbine applications. Steam turbine OEMs utilize Woodward’s turbine controllers to ensure their packages meet steady-state stability and fast transient responses required by oil, gas, and petrochemical plant process.
Woodward offers controllers for turbo expanders of all size turbines and applications. Standard off-the-shelf field configurable controllers allow users with simple turbo expander applications to easily configure and operate the control themselves, resulting in lower commissioning and support costs. Depending on the application’s complexity and level of criticality, our custom programmable control platforms in simplex, dual redundant, or triple redundant configurations allow customers to match the required control reliability and availability levels to their application. Fully programmable control platforms permit turbo expander OEMs and end-users to create a custom controller with site specific algorithms, logic, and protection functionality as required by the application.
We also offer different sizes of turbo expander valve and guide-vane actuators as well as expander overspeed detection systems (ODS) for selection and application by both OEMs and end-users. These versatile product families allow entire plants/companies to use and standardize on one actuator family or ODS family across their plants, lowering associated spare parts and personnel training costs.
